Psalm 127:3-5

Behold children are a gift of the LORD,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a mighty warrior, so are the children of one's youth.
How blessed are those whose quiver is full of them

25 days of blessings

Starting Monday I am going to be doing a series of blogs I'm calling 25 Days of Blessings. I plan to post everyday until Thanksgiving (my birthday) one thing I am thankful for. They won't be in any order of importance just what strikes me that day as a blessing from the Lord.

Tis the season to be thankful!

Hello World Series....this ones for my hubby

Friday night Jimmy and I witnessed something we never in a million years thought would ever happen... our Texas Rangers won the pennant and they are going to the world series. Back up a minute and understand that our Rangers have never won ANY post-season game, much less advanced this far. In fact, there have been stretches where wins of any kind were hard to come by for this team. Yet Jimmy has remained a faithful fan since he became interested in baseball at 7 years old... that's 27 years people. Jimmy has waited a long long time for this.

As for me, I became a baseball fan back in the early 1990's and have waited out many long and losing seasons with the Rangers hoping that maybe someday they could play in October.

Somehow Jimmy knew this was the season. He told me on opening day that if they ever had a team that could go all the way, this was that team. I had my doubts and everyone knows that the Rangers always slump after the all-star game. So after coming out strong after the break I started believing we had what it took to get to the big set of games.

Well sure enough, here we are. After a third strike looking to our nemesis Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez,(it doesn't get a lot better than that), taking down the evil empire, proving money can't buy everything and showing that God does honor those who honor Him (thank you JH).... the world series is coming to TEXAS!!

I guess it's time to get out our claws and antlers and cheer on four more wins! We've waited a LONG time for this one... GO RANGERS!

Don't grow weary

If there is one thing that is easy for a mom to do it is to grow weary of the job of mothering. Please don't though. Don't long for other things...

If you are a mom of a new baby don't wish for them to get older so they will sleep longer... embrace holding and feeding them in the wee hours. They are yours and yours alone in those moments and you will never get that time back with that child. The calendar will quickly tick the days away and they will be too busy crawling and walking and running and playing to sit and rock and cuddle.

If you are a mom of a busy toddler who gets into everything and you feel you can barely keep up and you wish they would just get a bit older so they can play without getting into too much trouble.... embrace the wonder and excitement of their world at this phase in their life. Really take the time to see the interest and pure joy in their eyes as they unravel the toilet paper. Laugh with them in that moment.... don't freak out. I mean come on, you can always buy more toilet paper but you can't buy back that moment if you flip out and get mad at an innocent 18 month old.

If you are the mom of a sick child and you aren't sure you can go another sleepless night dealing with coughing or runny noses or the always fun stomach bug.. remember Jesus said "when you have done it unto one of the least of these, you have done it unto me"..... think about that.

Don't grow weary, grow in joy and peace as you embrace what is right in front of you. Don't wish for "better" days... these are the BEST days of your life!

Christmas gown

Yes... Serene is wearing her Christmas gown! She wore it all day. She doesn't follow the rules... She is a free spirit that marches to her own drum. Fashion what? ?

21 things about my oldest boy

Here are just a few of the things our little man is up to these days....

1. As shown in the post below I found him IN the sink in our master bathroom
2. He climbs the OUTSIDE edge of our staircase holding on to the railing (fortunately, so far he will only go to about the 4th step... which puts him on about a 3 ft. ledge... LOVELY)
3. He climbs up and goes headfirst down the slide at any playground or swing set he can find
4. It is a common site to find him sitting ON our school table
5. He LOVES watching any sport that involves a ball... he jumps, claps and then sits totally enthralled
6. He LOVES to play with the little plastic golf clubs Jimmy bought him. The first thing he does in the morning is find a club and ball and start hitting. He can actually hit the ball really well and I can't even tell you how proud this makes his daddy... ok and me too =)
7. If he can't find a golf club and we are outside he gets a stick and rock and starts using those as a make shift club and ball
8. He says "ball" (shocking), "dada" and "up"... those are the only ones we have been sure of
9. He is such a sweet little man.. he gives the biggest hugs and loves to give mommy and daddy kisses... he won't kiss his sisters =)
10. He has really started taking a liking to his little brother and comes up and "pats" his head... some might call it hitting but he does it with lots of love =)
11. He is fascinating with electrical sockets which has caused us to up the level of our electrical outlet "security"
12. He could stay outside ALL day
13. He loves to sleep next to his daddy and does a few nights a week
14. He is trying to go to one nap a day but for the most part I'm still getting him to take his usual 10:00 and 2:00 nap!!!!!!!
15. The other day we found him at the top of a ladder that was left in our closet .... oh yeah, he had just gotten out of the bathtub and didn't have on a stitch of clothing
16. He loves his Pop and always wants him to pick him up and carry him around every time he is around him.. I see these two being big buddies
17. He LOVES to go on errands with daddy on the weekends... they have already made many trips to Lowes together
18. He LOVES his big sister Anna and always hugs and loves on her
19. He has an interesting relationship with Serene... she tries to baby him and he hates it.. it is hilarious to watch. They have an interesting bond yet on the other hand they fight over toys... they are like an old married couple... they love each other but it is hard to tell sometimes =)
20. He will go all the way to the back of our two acres by himself and never care of notice that mommy or daddy is WAY far from him
21. He LOVES animals and will chase after any squirrel, dog, bird etc. that he sees

Three month baby boy

Our baby boy is now three months. I'm a wee bit late posting this because the actual date was late week. It's amazing to me how fast time has gone and that our little guy has reached the quarter year mark. We have already had an eventful three months. We spent five weeks helping our little guy through a really bad bout of RSV. Thankfully he is back to full health and like I told my sis-in-law the other day... I've never been so thankful to have a baby be able to sleep and breathe... at the same time! =)

Rivers is such a sweet and happy baby. He smiles all the time and loves watching his big brother and big sisters. He sleeps great (no we don't sleep "train" our babies), he eats great and just generally brings a TON of joy and laughs to all of us.

So glad we were blessed with this little surprise baby!

Yep, they are watching TV. Don't worry, they had already spent about THREE straight hours playing outside just before this picture was taken. I needed to sit and nurse the baby and they needed to just sit so here you go... TV babysitting at its finest and I make NO apologies for it. You try occupying a 5 year old, 2 year old and 15 month old WHILE nursing a baby... no easy!! =)

Just thought they looked super cute sitting there together!

Pam Tebow.... wow!

Tonight Jimmy and I attended the annual banquet for the Mid-cities Pregnancy Center! This was our 5th banquet and by far the best yet! Jimmy and I are big time sports fans so meeting and hearing Mrs. Tebow speak was amazing. Her message about life and the awful truth of abortion was inspiring.

I'm so incredibly proud of my father who co-foundedof the MCPC back in the early 1980's. Thousands of sweet lives have been saved through the work of the center and many couples who could not conceive have been blessed with a child through young moms who are selfless enough to give their child up for adoption.

Life is precious!!
